Covering Plywood Desk

I have a built-in desk inside the closet in my room, but it's completely unfinished and is made of plywood with nothing done to it. I'd like to finish it up, but I'm stuck between a few options:

1. Laminate (I'd have to bring it in and have it bent, I sanded down the corner of the desk to round off the edge)

2. Paint/epoxy (friend's idea, I've never worked with it)

I want the desk to be extremely smooth. Any thoughts?

Sorry if this is the wrong section, new to the forums and the whole DIY thing and not sure where it falls.

Covering Plywood Desk

Your best bet would be to post on a woodworking forum... not that your question is inappropriate here, but that the folks on this particular board may not have all the information you seek.

You could also stop by a local woodworking store (such as WoodCraft) and get their opinion.
