Cost of X-ray to find lead paint?
Has anyone had their door and window frames checked for lead paint? I've read that the swabs are not a good option if there's more than a couple coats of paint. Also that lead paint was used more in wealthier households because it was more expensive. I've also read that there is an X-ray test for lead paint, but who does this test and how much does it cost??? Is it part of a lead abatement consultation, or can you just have certain things X-rayed? How much does a full lead abatement cost?

The walls I'd like to just paint over, but I'd like to strip things that are more likely to flake, like door and window frames, with something like either Swing's "Circa 1850 Heavy Body Paint & Varnish Remover" or SoyGel, which looks like it's specifically for lead paint. Anyone done this? Not trying to advertise for Soygel, but here is the description of it:

"The introduction of Soy Gel Paint & Urethane Remover as a lead-based paint remover changed the industry! And then the realization that Soy Gel not only removed lead-based paint, it could remove all paints! No longer is it necessary to sand, chisel, or work so hard to strip a surface. Soy Gel works on the surface to lift the paint or coating, encapsulating them in its thick formula, preventing harmful particles like lead to escape into the air, and making for easier disposal. You'll use less product, less effort, and have no odors or harsh chemicals. Trying is believing."

Use EPA approved swabs. Anytime when your swabbing for lead paint you will want to use a knife and cut a small v shape into the surface you are checking, this will expose all layers of paint. Then perform your swab test. Wear gloves and a n100 mask when cutting your v. You will need to check each piece, another words the window sill, window sashes, window trim etc.
