Interesting question...You certainly can't argue with Sherwin's success over the years - that has to say something. However, Color Wheel makes some mighty fine products - and since they sell their products in their own backyard, it kinda makes sense that Color Wheel's products may be more pertinent to the specific environment you live in.
No one can really answer your question as we all have our preferences - which is better, Coke or Pepsi? ...and "better" paint as in lifespan? coverage? hiding? washability and stain resistance? ease of application? lower VOC's? higher VOC's? ...too many variables.
You'll be safe buying product from either place, but talk to the people behind the counter and listen to what they have to say about their products and their recommendations for your particular project. Also listen to what they have to say about surface prep and any application tips or product nuances - then, decide for yourself.
