Chipping latex paint on masonite prep question
I am trying to prep my garage door for a new coat of paint. On the bottom edge of each board there is flaking and chipping of the paint. When I sand this more and more paint rips off, I could keep sanding until
no more paint is left on the entire board. What is the best way to prepare these chipping area's for paint? I've sanded the area down and have only moved the chipping area's because I still have loose edges around the area I sanded. Any Input greatly appreciated, Thank you!
You want to get all peeling, flaking and otherwise loose paint off so if you have to sand the whole thing you should. It will just come back to haunt you later. Then apply a quality paint store primer and two coats of finish. I like Benjamin Moore Alkyd Fresh Start but a bonding latex will work too. Tint it 40 percent of your color mix to help coverage along.
