Changing exterior color of house

We have dark green trim paint on house and around windows. Should I apply a primer before painting? New paint will be a cream color on all surfaces and lighter color on trim around windows and doors.

thanks

By all means, prime first since you are going from dark to light in color.

Changing exterior color of house

Hey Doc!

I am not selling anything nor advocating any products but if you need a paint color scheme tool check out my paragonrenovations website. I have one right on my home page no gimmicks no tricks and no games just free for the use of my clients and others. Hope it helps!

Also primer yes and at least brush any loose paint with a good steel wire brush. You can go further however not sure how bad your paint is now.

Good luck and be safe

I am a NY painting contractor, you should prime first, especially with the nature of the color change. You can Get the primer tinted fairly close to the color your using depending on where your buying your paint and the type of primer your using. We usually always use Sherwin Williams 100% acrylic products. I have a color visualizer on my web site as well and also much usefull info, there's also a blog that I have with usefull info.
