Ceramic paint that insulates?

Has anybody else heard of this ceramic paint, supposedly to have come from NASA, that insulates? It's supposed to be some kind of great heat reflector, and therefore reflects outside heat in the summer and traps inside heat in the winter. If it's so great, then why can you only get it in online stores and not at real hardware stores? Anybody know if it's for real?

Thanks

Ceramic paint that insulates?

Do they make any claim as to the R-Value of the paint?

Yes, I've heard of it
Mostly, I don't like to give advice on something I haven't used myself, but you'd probably find this interesting

Not one of my paint suppliers have any, nor do any plan to carry any
Not one pro painter I know has ever used it
Not one pro painter I know believes it

This topic has even been posted on pro painter's boards I frequent where hundreds of pro painters can see it
Not one pro frequenting those boards uses it, or believes it

On a personal note, in my investigation of the product, I found too many red flags not to reach a negative conclusion of the product

Or paint stores, or paint suppliers...

Thanks for your replies, I'm pretty sure now its a hoax. No, they don't give an R-value rating because of something to do with the thickness, or testing procedures, or something. THey probably don't give it an r-value because it doesn't work.

What's the name of it? I have used some of this type of material with outside paint. It has been on for about seven years and so far all is well. I can not tell if it really made any difference in heat or cooling the house because I made several other energy saving additions at the same time.

I remember this discussion from another site and, as I remember, It could foul up the paint warrantee.

I have NEVER seen a paint warranty pay off yet...it's always a "did't prep properly" problem or a moisture problem. Good Luck.
