Ceiling paint repair

Sprayed soda on ceiling and wiped off with damp cloth which removed texture (who knew?). I have tried multiple means and paints trying to match texture and paint to small, swiped area. I get the texture 'close enough' but can't get the paint to blend in. Finally I just paint the whole ceiling over and the area still doesn't blend in, stands out just as bad as ever. What gives?

It does look better the more the paint dries. Texture still not there and will have to think of another option for that. I even bought some texture paint at HD and the paint actually seemed to flatten out as it dried so that was money wasted. I also tried the spray can (never try that again) and tried some paint you mix with sand (better but still not it).

pictures might help a lot for the guys that are familiar with texture. did you prime the retextured area before you repainted?

Ceiling paint repair

Okay, pic attached. I am sure I primed in one of my earlier attempts. I think I have the paint matched now but still no luck on the texture. I suppose I will have to call a pro but I am in the country and for this small of a job I have a feeling they will want to do the entire ceiling (again) and it will cost way more than I would want to spend.
