That paint is evil. Every time I use it the roll and brush never blend right.

you refering to when you use a roller and a paint brush?

If thats the case, what I do is use the brush and roll over it right away when working by the corners and such.

Can't speak to other brands as I had never had to paint a ceiling before but for a newb (and short) ceiling painter I used the SW Emminence and I am VERY happy with how it looks. Did half the house with it on flat ceilings no texture.

I have no roller marks and even though I was unable to keep a wet edge all the time you can not see the roller marks. Just cut it in and then off I went. I have even had to touch up a couple of areas from the final wall coat where I smacked the ceiling with a roller and you cannot see the touch up areas either. A very forgiving paint.

How bright is it? And I guess my question is, how bright do you want a ceiling paint? As I said, I think people don't think much about it (I really don't) but I'm always open to changing....

What I like about it is it doesn't have that gray cast to it a lot of ceiling paint has. It says no prime I tried it after a popcorn removal and was pleasantly surprised.

Well, since you mentioned "a lot of ceiling paint" - frankly, as I said, I just use ProMar or Super Paint in Extra White for ceilings. I've never really bought into the idea that you need a special paint for the ceiling.

Am I missing something?

A good ceiling paint should be dead flat or close to it super paint and pro mar are not.

No, Jeff, you're not really missing anything. Emminence isn't a blinding bright white, it's just bright enough that it makes those ceiling/wall lines nice and crisp. Of course any white really does that with skilled cut-ins. It's usually sold at anywhere from $18 - $25. I've been getting it for just under $20 which is great. I hate spending money on ceiling paint when no one really looks at a ceiling unless it is painted poorly.

Well at under $20, that is one good thing going for it.... I know my price on ProMar 200 is at least $20, maybe $22 or $23.

It doesn't help with that paint. We had to paint a bathroom 4 times with that paint one time. We tried the cut guy and roll guy right on top of each other, tried waiting a few hours, nothing helped. Zinsser makes some fine primers, just not a fan of their bathroom paint.
