cedar siding- what stain?

I am ready to start staining my siding and was wondering if the brand from Pitt.Paint is a good quality product. I tried some on some sample boards for color choice (let wife decide) and was supprised that it cleaned up with WATER. Would Cabot be Better for just a few bucks more. I dont do alot of staining and would like somthing that might last 10 years if possible. Thank for any info .

SW Woodscapes.I have never used a better stain it's not cheap but do you really want a cheap stain on your house?

Thanks for the suggestion Charlie. The reason I was choosing between Cabot and P.P. was because I can get 160 bucks off a 5gal. pail. I guess a better question would be which in Your opinion is better- oil or water based stain in terms of longevity and overall quality. Thanks for Your imput

Cabot is better IMO. I guess you gotta decide what type of stain, etc. Are you looking for a semi-transparent? Oil? Water-based? Solid? Gotta agree with Charlie about Woodscapes.......might just be the best of the stains. If I had to choose between Cabot and PP, it would be Cabot for sure.

Tough call but it is your call.
Picking the best stain is like, is chevy better then ford?
Here in the New Mexico sun, I have found sikkens to be the best I have used.
I have used others, they need to be reapplied to often, while sikkens has given me the best time so far.

I find it to be the best it the TN Mtns also. Especially there high build products like the ' log and siding, or even better the 123 system.
The penetrating semi-trans 'SRD, to me doesn't seem much better than other brands

The feedback from the couple of guys that I know that do it all the time is that the Sikkens is great stuff too.

I usually defer to them so that is what I will be running on the next go around.

SW Woodscapes stain is a great product to use...I would go with a solid stain though.

Good Luck!
