Caulk + fence stain
I have a decorative fence that I'm ready to stain. I'm using opaque solid white (un-tinted) SW fence stain.
The issue is the 4x6 portions of the fence have developed large cracks, but are still solid.
The wood is pressure treated and has been installed and drying for almost a year.
Would you just stain as is, or would you try and fill/caulk these cracks. Some are very noticeable. My rep said the stain will go over caulk...
Anyone have experience with this?
That's just normal checking.
I would not caulk it. All that's going going to do is crack and hold the water in.
I think it is an aesthetic thing.... If your fence checking creates a bad appearance (agaist a white it may), yes caulk it,,, a good latex acrylic.
You'll have a lttle more maintenance, but if appearence is important.....
