Care and Feeding of Cedar

Hi All -

Built a cedar shed 2 years ago. Spent hours looking up various options, and if memory serves me.....the clear uv look I wanted was not really a option as I was advised, even with the best Sikkens, etc product out there, the clear option would weather faster over time.

Fast forward. I ended up using a product a tonnage of deck guys liked - can't recall the product name but it was not a big box or paint store supply item. I recall specifically ordering from the manuf.

2 years in the sun, heat, cold, snow, etc - the color is showing some wear.

What is the proper care/frequency of stained cedar ?
I don't want it to get too far into it before it turns to grey.
Any particular products ya'll might recommend.

Does any exist that will allow me to have clear cedar just protected with some sort of UV inhibitor that will allow me to prevent the wood from greying but still be clear-transparent

You need to know what went on last time or you will have to strip off the old sealer before you begin to seal. If you find out old sealer let us know and we can point you in the right direction. Then seal with either Ready Seal or Armstrong Clark
