canelady - Painting Question?

Hi, I'm new to chat room. Need ideas on how to texture paint a wall after removing some old wallpaper. Only I decided to paint over the paper, top layers came off in places , so now have uneven surface. Help

canelady - Painting Question?

Well you did the big no-no in painting the wallpaper, but what's done is done. Keep in mind that no matter what you put on now can still further pull up spots or bubble. Sand texture like you put on a ceiling can be very rough on a wall to brush up against and really doesn't look right. You could try a little joint compound on the spots that got removed and then paint it again. The more elaborate textures you see like swirls on a ceiling are tough and not really for a do-it-yourselfer.

canelady - Painting Question?

At this point it's probably best to coat with Zinsser's Gardz or an oil- based primer
Neither will further pull up or bubble

Then fill in the low spots with joint compound
A few coats if need be
Sand them smooth
Re-prime with regular latex, or Gardz or oil is OK if you've got some left

Then paint
