Can you use canned spray paint for trim?

This may be a stupid question, but I have looked all over for an answer and found nothing. We are installing new baseboards, casing, crown moulding and doors in our 1200 sqft home. (This was a necessity since we ripped down old paneling and put up drywall). We bought pre-primed mdf trim (wood trim for bathrooms). Can we just line up all of the trim pieces and hit them with a can of spray paint? (I'm not talking about the nice wonderful pro spray guns) I like the flow that sprayed trim has (and the potential to save some time), but I certainly don't want to use something that may give me trouble down the road and I think that a paint sprayer is a little out of the budget seeing as it would be used for this alone. Any thoughts?

It's an expensive way to go, but you could use a metal and wood enamel that comes in a spray can
You'll be limited to solvent based coatings so you should re-prime with alkyd
And as it'll take several light coats of the enamel I don't think it's going to save any time realistically
But the answer to your question is yes

That was just the piece of info I was looking for. I think I'll skip the spray paint. Thanks so much!
