Can I still Stain after wipe-on Poly?

So I sanded, painted and distressed my vanity table. I loved how it look so I put on two coats of wipe-on poly. Now I'm thinking that I should have stained it a little to make it look more weathered, can I still stain after I have already used poly? I was thinking maybe I could sand it all down with 220 fine grit, stain and then poly again?

The poly will prevent the stain from reaching the wood---Have you thought of a glaze?
Burnt amber mixed into a clear glaze and then wiped off might give you the antiqued look without needing to strip the vanity again.--Mike--

orrrrr.... you could try using a stain/varnish combo product. However, to stain the WOOD, you'd need to strip it first.

Can I still Stain after wipe-on Poly?

Thanks!

Mike - I have gloss, I actually have a Tea-Stained color that looks pretty nice, do i need to sand it a little to prep the wood? And after I finish glazing, should I use wipe-on poly again?

Thanks again!

You will have to experiment a bit--I think another coat of wipe on poly might be a good plan.
