I do a lot of cedar shingle houses around here and am wondering if a paint sprayer would actually save time. Without prep I quote at approximately 2 hours/100 sq ft for cedar, that's not including prep or ladder work factors.
I like the reviews I hear for Graco and have a budget of $700.00 CDN, or about $650.00 US.
My concern is the back brushing would make it just as slow.
Would an airless sprayer be a sound investment, and, if so, what are the key things to look for besides brand names?
I have a small Lemmer DC1600 with 50 feet of hose plus a 4 foot extension that goes on the gun. Mine is just a small unit you can buy similar in Titan (home depot) Graco or what ever dealer/brand I guess is close by you. I've had a few years, put through maybe 100 gallons of paint and its one of them "must have" tools now for me. I just use it around my farm painting buildings and its a real time saver. Not sure about your application though.
What ever decision you make--buy a brand (like Graco) that has dealers that stock parts--those machines require regular maintenance and if you have an odd ball brand--you will regret buying it--When you need a part you must be able to get one in a hurry.
