Question

Best Translucent Coating/Stain for Pressure Treated Wood Deck in Damp Northwest

Here in the Pacific NW, we have a problem with dampness. My deck was completely gray, and now with a lot of bleaching, I've gotten rid of the mold/mildew. The deck is ready for the brightener, which I already have. I put a little bit of the brightener in one place, and it made the pressure treated wood (probably southern pine) look like new.

I don't want to brighten it though till I know what to use the protect/stain the deck with. I want low maintenance. Cabot SPF 48 is supposed to last 3-4 years. Penofin for pressure-treated wood seems to have to be recoated fairly frequently, as does TWP.

I've heard of PlastIron. Do they still exist? I've gone to their website at:
http://certifiedcontractorscoalition...enu/plastiron/, and it doesn't seem to work, and they've not responded to my email/contacts.

What is there out there that protects pressure-treated wood decks for a really long time?

Does PlastIron exist anymore? If so, how are they contacted? Their website is unresponsive now.

That website only works to a point. When you click on the the 5 squares at the top (Home, Products, MSDS, News, & Contact Info), the upper rectangular box changes. But that's it. You can't get anything, or go anywhere else.

For example, you can't get anything about the products when you click on the "Product" square, and then try and find a link that is hot somewhere. There are no hotllinks. If you click on the "MSDS" square, you get the same thing. There is no active hotlink from where you can get MSDS data. When I click on the "News" square, at least there are two what appear to be hotlinks saying "read more..." But then when you click on them, they don't work. When you click on the "Contact Info" square, you get a fillable message form, and an email address that is listed. But I've used the message box two times with no response, and sent emails two times with no response.

That is why I wonder if PlastIron still exists.
