Best Stain For Steps

I am having new steeps put in and they are Red Oak and would like to know what is the best stain to use on them? Brand name and type of stain.

Why use any stain? Red oak looks great with just coats of floor Poly on it.

Has anyone used Aqua Borne Ceramithane?

I am planing to use this one.

Just would like your opinion on this.

Really looking for something that will wear like iron on the Red Oak steps.

I am not familiar with that brand. We use Duraseal, it is what our floor refinishing division uses and we also use that product in commercial settings and gymnasiums. It is sold at Sherwin Williams and can be found online too.

I know I'm gonna regret getting into this conversation, but Aqua Borne Ceramithane is made by Graham Paints (now wholly owned by Muralo Paints) and, at least imho, is perhaps the finest line of paints on the market.

I used to use Muralo exclusivly about 20 years ago, then they moved out of town:mad:

chrisn and ric knows paint are you or were you very pleased with Muralo paint?

Is there anything that you did not like about the paint?

What I have used of it is is better than Pittsburgh paint, which I have used for years.

Would I buy it again yes without thinking about it.

My next project is the Red Oak steps and I want something that is very good in fact the best on the market so I am looking at Aqua Borne Ceramithane. Do you think that I would be very pleased with this?
