best primer for new drywall
I am having 3000 sq ft of drywall done in 2 weeks, and I need to have it primed overnight so they can come back and look for any flaws the next day... What do you guys think is the best primer out there to use? I have easy access to the following brands
Kilz Valspar Olympic Sherwin Williams Bulls Eye Zinsser This will be walls and ceiling, new drywall of course besides the brand, how many coats of primer on new drywall?

I'm sure any one of these would work but IMO, the Zinsser Bulls-Eye would be best as it dries to a bit of a sheen and would show any imperfections more easily. It only takes one coat for a primer to do it's job.Two coats won't help it at all.

I like using the zinsser bulls-eye 1-2-3. covers nice, dries to a sheen, 2 coats of paint, done.
But this topic has been covered over and over. Do a search and you will see what others have said.

Yup Bulls Eye. This stuff works very well for peel and stick tile too.

Just realize it's primer not paint so it's not going to look like paint when it's done. It will look streaked and light in spots, this is normal for primer.

best primer for new drywallQuote:
PVA,,, it is slightly transparent, meaning that you can still see the tape joints through it, but it is a good sealer, and cheaper than most Latex primers, for best results use a small Airless Sprayer with a 5-15 tip and be sure to roll after spraying, it's a 2 man job, 1 person spraying and one right behind him, rolling with a 3/4" lambs wool roller pad, this will insure uniform coverage. On NEW construction, I can prime ceilings and walls in a 3 bedroom/2 bath unit in under 4 hours using this method, NOW that is NEW construction where no light, switches, recepticles, plates or fixtures are yet installed. If you are using the same ceiling color throughout, then go back with your finish paint and do ALL ceilings with the same method starting in the FIRST room that you primed,, it should be dry enough to do. Then let the electricians install all fixtures, switches and plugs because all of the walls will need the Brush and Roll method! Hope this helps ! In 1, 8 hour day you have Everything Primed and the ceilings Finished! Sherwin Williams PVA is good, whatever you decide to use make certain it is Latex or Acrylic,, Oil based primers on NEW sheetrock will make it FUZZY AND it will make a LOT of unnecessary SANDING !!
