Best paint for floor party basement?
Hi, I just moved into my fraternity and I'd like to repaint our basement floor. Its a tile floor that was originally painted black but I guess the beer must've deteriorated the paint off. What would be a good paint that can stand beer?
There are so many great floor paints out there. I would recommend Graham's Aqua Borne Ceramic floor paint, as it is a water-based enamel that will withstand almost anything. Depending on where you live, you may not have a dealer near you.
You can check out http://www.grahampaint.com/dealers.htm and see if there is one near you.
If not, go to your local paint store and ask them their advice. In your situation you probably want to stay away from the big box stores, as the employees there sometimes make up answers so you stop asking questions (my experience). If you go to a local store they can call their manufacturer for you and make sure what you get will stand up to beer or anything else that might get on the floor.
I suspect it's peeling because the tile was painted
The beer didn't help I'm sure, but painting tile usually isn't a good idea
It rarely stays for long
If you post up what type of tile it is (CVT, ceramic, whatever) maybe someone might have a suggestion that might work for a while
I can't recommend any myself, I really don't recommend painting tile
