bathroom ceiling

I am getting ready to paint a bathroom with mildew problems. I plan on using Kilz 2 to prime, have semi gloss for walls, and was going to use white semi gloss for ceiling, but was told NOT TO by Home Depot clerk. He said, NEVER use semi gloss on ceilings. I said, "Not even for the bathroom"? He said no. I am skeptical. I do have "ceiling paint" leftover from another job, but shouldn't I use semi gloss in bath?

I stopped using flat paint in the bathroom
I went with Satin instead - which can be cleaned

The guy is a moron, typical for big box places. Go to a real paint store for advise. Of course you can use semi on the ceiling. I would ditch the Kilz and go with a real primer that will work, Fresh Start comes to mind.

What would the pvc ceiling stuff (those squares)be like in a bathroom? Could you use it there? Never heard of the stuff until I saw it on a google ad. Just wondered how it worked.

Back to the OP. I have no idea why you could use it on the walls but not on the ceiling.

Most ppl don't us semigloss on the ceiling anymore, but not because you can't.
Flat is generally used bc most ppl dont wash ceiling's anymore. Semi was the usual for a long time & lots of ppl used to just clean the ceiling instead of repainting the flat.
Also because it hide defects in the surface.
