Bare wood to old paint transition?

I'm prepping the exterior of a small house for paint, and spent the entire day scraping off the old flaking paint. This house was painted once in the 1980s. Its T-111 siding and in rough shape.

The lower half of the wall is extremely flakey, while the upper half is still in decent shape, no flakes whatsoever. The flake areas I scraped down to bare wood, but I don't want to scrape the upper areas if I don't really need to.

So my question is this, will I be able to primer/paint/paint over that entire wall without seeing the transition from bare wood to old paint?

I will try and post a picture tonight to give you a better idea...

Thanks in advance everyone!

That vertical siding is cheap crap. But it's what you've got, so you get to deal with it...

If it's not rotted on the bottom, sand it lightly to transition in to where there's still paint. Then prime it with oil-based primer, and top-coat with 2 coats of good latex paint.
