apply 2nd coat of stain to deck after a few days

I hired a company to stain the deck. My deck is old so it drinks a lot of stain. They ran out of stain before finishing the 1st coat. They told me it'd be just fine to apply a 2nd coat after a few days. Is it true? Does this happen often? Or should I ask them to strip it off to start it over?Thank you for your advises in advance.

You can contact Mr Clark at 800 916 8211, can not think of his first name right now but I have talked with him a few times about products.
