Anyone know of a paint I can use to refinish a FIBERGLASS shower pan?
I have a fiberglass shower pan that is serviceable, but just plain ugly. I was wondering what to us to refinish it, if that's possible. I have used the eopxy kkits for porcelain before, but not sure if it would work on fiberglass. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
There are companies that re-coat those things all the time. It works for a while.
The Do-It-Yourself kits sold at home centers don't work so hire a pro. Look around your area for a company like Surface Doctors or Surface Solutions or Re-Bath. There are many others but those three names come to mind right now.
Thanks Bud. I've used the DIY kits, and you're right, they look and perform good for a while, but ultimately they fail. I have a feeling refinishing a fiberglass pan also will fail in the liong run since it will probably flex some. Probably the best thing to do is either live with it or replace it. Its kinda ugly, but I bet choosing the right tile to put above it will help make it at least a little better. Anyway, I had to ask... Thanks!
The pro's that do that kind of refinishing use chemicals and products you and i can't readily get our hands on. Special air-handling equipment is also used to clean the air during the process. They also wear a small
SCUBA-type breathing apparatus while spraying. That process is greatly different from the DIY stuff.
