AFM Safecoat Safe Seal
Has anyone used this product?
http://www.afmsafecoat.com/products.php?page=2 I'm having an off-gassing issue I believe on bi-fold closet doors that was improperly primed. I'm afraid it's giving off formaldehyde gasses and I want to seal it. This is my thread here: http://www.diychatroom.com/f4/foul-o...riming-172241/ I'm thinking of trying Zinsser Shellac but considering Safe Coat because based on reviews it seems to give off less odor. Since I live in a Apartment Complex, odor is a very important issue. Not like I can take these into the garage or a back yard to work on. Thanks in advance. |
Shellac odor from just coating a couple of bifolds is not going to be a big deal, and it dissipates quickly. Unless I'm rolling walls or such I don't even notice it. You'll be fine with shellac.

+1 for shellac.I use to do a lot of insurance work with smoke damage and used BIN primer to seal out the smoke smell. The alcohol based shellac dries fast and the smell dissipates quickly.

Have never heard of this but can't you just go over it with cover stain or any oil base to seal it.
