Advice for re-painting cabinets

Hi everyone, new to the forum, and to painting.

I have 6 cabinets that have a coat of paint on them(from the prev. owner of the house). I'd like to paint them a different color and I am seeking some basic advice on how to prep and paint the surface. The surface is currently slightly glossy. Im thinking I will paint in Drk. Brown or Blk.

Also, the doors of the cabinets are 'shuttered'. Im concerned that without tedious sanding (between each shutter plank) I will end up with poorly painted cabinets. Should I use Liquid Sander?

likely best to have them sprayed.

It is very tough to make louvers look good without spraying them.

I agree on the spray painting for the louvered sections. You'll drive yourself crazy otherwise and the paint will clump in places. I would take them off and do it in a garage or basement, however, as those sprayers can get a little crazy.
