Adding Gloss finish to old paint?

I am working on re-painting my home. The contractors that remodeled prior to our purchase used the bottom of the barrel finish in the high taffic area's of the house. I still have the paint used, but wanted to add a semi gloss finish.

is there a way to utilize the old paint by adding semi gloss to it or is there a separate paint finish I can apply after painting? I would hate to waste the paint so I want to explore all options?

Thank you!

Time to go buy some more paint in the finish you want.
