ACE hardware paint vs. C2 feedback please
looking into some paints.
the ACE stuff seems to be about the same price (20 dollar/gal. range) as Behr but i dont see it bashed online like the Behr is.
C2 seems to be comparable in price (about $45/gal.) to Benjamin Moore maybe a bit less. the C2 is this shops "premium" paint.
the local paint shop/hardware store that is closest to my house sells both.
the walls are plaster with pretty heavy patterns/texture in them.
thanks

C2 is a premium brand on par with the best from BM or SW. That said, I will be painting my living room soon with Ace Sensations matte finish (the one with Scotchguard). I used a gallon in a family room and was very impressed with the paint. The folks in the paint department at my local Ace are very friendly and always give great advice.

we use Ace sensations, scotch guard, high hiding white at work, although I always go with two coats, I really like this paint. Goes for $32 a gallon here, had a salesman drop off some shermin williams, supposely same mix, he knocked a dollar off the price and delivered it, wasn't impressed with it. I had to go slower then normal with the roller, had a lot of fly-off, it was a thinner mix.

Hey GregD (and others... !),
Lucky Me Greg...I'm workin' this weekend!
Sorry I missed you the other day...they had me on an extra day off during the week 'cuz I'm working on the 4th weekend.
I can't/won't respond with too much detail on the public site here...other than to say we get lotsa nice comments from people who use the Sensations Flat (Matte technically... ).
If you're ever doing a Bathroom however, I'd recommend a Satin...maybe even Semi-gloss. Thank Heavens there's S/G in our DD's bath!!!
(think teenager here...steam rolling out the door...our poor water-heater... )

Ace paint though a decent quality product, in my opinion, is not a BM Regal product. Also if you are paying over $40 for Regal Matte seek out another paint store. Going rate for Regal Matte should be around $32 to $35............the mid $40 dollar range should get you into BM's Aura, ultra premium. Ace stores tend to carry a much higher retail on BM over there competitive counter parts. At least that is how it is out here.
Bathrooms, with the correct products there is no need to go satin or semi-gloss anymore.......
That being said I feel BM is a better product over Ace, though I am biased.

Wish I could get BM here. An Ace store 40 miles from here has BM but don't carry the Aura line...said it's an additional $20,000.00 to set up display. The other Ace stores in area don't carry it. 40 miles too far for me to keep trying samples, etc. Would like to try the Aura sometime though.

thanks. cant imagine why you would be biased
i was comparing the C2 line of premium paints to the Aura line from BM. both of them appear to be in the same price range.
gonna use the ACE sensations with scotch guard (with tinted C2 One for the primer) to paint my kids room since that room will get abused the most and will also be most likely to be repainted in the next 3-4 years (when they get tired of lavender). they are 5 and 7 right now. if we like how it looks the Ace Sensations will be used in the rest of the house. it helps that the Ace store is pretty close to our new place. plus, they didnt kick me and my wacky kids out of there on the 4th.
the room us just under 400 square feet of paintable surface. if i understand correctly i should need one gallon of primer and two gallons of paint to properly cover the room. maybe an extra quart of each if needed.

well we chose the ACE sensations flat with scotchgaurd and we were very happy with how the paint went on. and aftar a few days of drying it all looks awesome. here's hoping it still looks great long enough for us to get tired of the colors and repaint.
we used C2's One primer and that also went on awesome.
i will post pictures later.

That is a Biased opinion, but also a correct one. I also agree with the prices you mention. I see people mention some BM dealers charging over $40 a gallon for the Regal and that is insane. Our local BM dealers always have the price right at the counter for the Regal line and it is always in the low 30's. If you were planning on 2 coats anyways then you might try some of the Superspec which is between $18 and $23 a gallon. It's on par with SW's Promar 200 stuff in both quality and price.
