Are there any tips on how to remove old Zbrick so new ceramic tile can be
installed? This is above a counter and below cupboards, which we hope we don't have to remove the cupboards.
It should be somewhat brittle and relatively thin.(if I am thinking of the same product) By hitting it firmly you should be able to crack the brick and scrap it off with a wide chisel. Try not to hurt the under surfaces to badly and you may be able to install the ceramic with only minor repairs. Basically it should be like removing tiles from a similar surface.
Try removing a few in an inconspicuous place so you know what you are in for :(
as for removing the cupboard. If the brick does not go behind them you should be able to leave them in place.
