You know how you always see news stories about old people ....

who "kept hitting the brake" but their car just kept going faster and faster?

Well it happened right in front of me in the doctors parking lot. All of a sudden this Mitsubishi just took off like a bat out of hell, flew across the lot, bounced off a curb and "punched a hole" in the garage on the neighboring lot.

I didn't ask the lady but I'll be you $5 that she "kept hitting the brake" as well.

Since the firetrucks blocked me in the least I could do is take a picture.....

My son-in-law was driving his GMC Jimmy on the highway yesterday. When he took his foot off the gas pedal, it stayed where it was. It was stuck. He tried the brakes, but that didn't help.

He said he put it in neutral until it slowed down enough to pull over and stop. The gas pedal was still stuck. He lifted the hood and found some walnuts stuck in there, jamming the accelerator.

Darn squirrels really need to find a better place to store their food.

Thank God he knew how to handle the situation as my daughter and their 3 small kids were with him. I'm not sure my daughter would have known what to do, had she been driving.

Look for recalls on the Website for the Center for Auto Safety before you say "operator error."

my wife's car got hit by an "older" woman in a parking lot, her car crossed one section, over the curb, and ran into a car that got pushed into my wife's. My wife doesn't get too excited about cars, it was a couple years old at the time, she told the lady she was glad she didn't get hurt,, in the turn the "old" lady gave my wife a hug for not getting mad at her. And, I had acorns jamb up the linkage on an '87 sentra, thought the engine was gonna blow from the high rpms.

So when you go into a hospital your life is in the hands of people you never even met before that day.

Same when you walk across a parking lot. There are hundreds of horsepower just waiting to off you!

I was in my car thank god, i had just pulled in, was going 5mph and had my windows down with the radio off. Based on the sound of a car redlining ...... I think we can all figure out what happened. When I walked over there you can actually see how the car was still accelerating when it got to the grass because it "peeled out" a little bit before it went airborne.

And the Toyota thing ... I'd estimate 95% operator error and 5% problems w/ the car. Don't get me started on that
