Chrisen--I didn't forget you---I used invisible ink for the last three pages of that post---A simple incantation will reveal the entire text.
Ask Snape or Hermione if you can't remember it.---Mike---

I have a sharp tongue at times. I honestly do try to keep it under control, but some posters just manage to hit the right buttons.
Consider this question: "Can I paint my walls?" Well, we have several things to look at here. One, does he or she know how to paint? Is there a physical or medical reason that might hinder them? Is there a rental agreement or something that precludes that sort of thing? Can they afford the amount of paint necessary? Are they too short, and don't own a ladder? Is the wall paintable? Does it happen to be raining on the wall right now? And this silly list could go on and on. I'm not a great typist. But I laboriously peck out exhaustive replies, chock full of all the instruction and detail that I can think of. Not a huge deal, but I do put some time and effort into trying to give full and complete answers to most questions I feel qualified to assist with. Questions that merit it, I mean. But a dumb, cryptic question that shows no initiative on the part of the OP rates pretty low on my "I'd like to help them" list. It's upon reading some of those that I too often surrender to the impulse to reply "in kind". That's when the original question I posed here might get a one-word answer of, "Maybe.", from me. Oh, and I also like to be able to actually read and understand what they write. When it looks like someone let their cat run helter-skelter over the keyboard and they went ahead and posted whatever drivel puked out onto the screen... well I couldn't care less if they get their answer. Most of us made it through elementary school. And that means we know that a post can (and probably SHOULD) contain paragraphs. That those paragraphs are made up of sentences... sometimes several of them. Not one long, long, long, long run-on sentence. Those sentences get themselves a Capital letter plunked up there on the front of the first word too. And they end with some sort of punctuation mark. I have to admit that I honestly feel nothing for the people who don't seem to care enough about us to even expend the tiny amount of effort it requires to compose a logical, legible, and reasonably intelligent post here. But other than those few pesky gripes.... I'm fine with most questions.

Don't feel bad, Bud, I still have no ideal what they were talking about. Guess I'm too old, or don't watch the right TV shows. Harry Potter, maybe?
"Always."

One thing I do appreciate around here is the reasonable heads on the shoulders of the Moderators. I do things from time to time that would normally get a guy banned, in fact, I have been banned from more than one of these places. But anyway the Mods run around cleaning up my messes all of the time and I actually do appreciate that.
Just yesterday some DIY came here with a picture of something really stupid he had done and wanted to know how to fix it. At one point I simply said "Your Screwed". Well futz, he was screwed, what he did was just plain idiotic and brainless. Rather than tell him that in those many words like I wanted to, I simply told him as politely as I know how; "Your Screwed". I only said it once. Of course that jack a$$ took offense and chose to come back at me. When did you ever know Bud to back down from slapping around some idiot. This guy wasn't exactly Rain-man. Anyway...it wasn't long and some Moderator had waved their magic wand and the thread disappeared. I'm OK with that because that rectal orifice didn't deserve any help anyway.

You should understand that I grew up in the restaurant and bar business. I learned pretty quick to never back down from a fight. Boy, I could tell you stories about me and my dad and some of the bar room brawls we innocently got involved in from time to time. I'm not that big either so I had to get street-wise at an early age. ![]() So that dick yesterday had the balls to report me for my comment huh? THAT really pisses me off. ![]() ![]() What a scumbag he was!

I once had a whole thread removed, as I recall, so I guess I have to confess to being one of them.
Sometimes I think it's not so much what you, yourself, do or say, but rather that you verbally back someone into a corner and leave them feeling foolish. Then THEY react, and you (seemingly) look all innocent while they catch the flack. Not very mature, and not right at all. But I HAVE done it.
