Where's my Jig Saw

I had it out over the weekend and noticed that something was wrong with it. Put it aside and got on to other things. Now looking for it. Checked the following locations:

On the layout table
On the reference table
On the miter saw table
On the storage table
On the tool shelves
Next to the table saw
On the floor next to the table saw
Next to the W.I.P.
By the sink
On top of the welder
In the hardware cabinet
On top of the jointer
Behind the drill press
Underneath the band saw
In the vicinity of the drum sander
Somewhere in the light storage shelves
Behind David Cooperfield's cape
In the Bermuda Triangle
Buried with Jimmy Hoffa
Off somewhere with the Dingo

I'm, at a loss and becoming disturbed.

Where's my Jig Saw

Yup; I go through that all of the time. My most common one is a pencil. Everything laid out, and all I need to do is make a mark, but no pencil. And there are literally dozens of them in my shop at any given time. The real problem though is, as I get older, is remembering what I am looking for long enough to find it. Fortunately, my wife is pretty good at that, so I'll often ask her to come to the shop, and sure enough, she'll find it for me. Fret not though; mine always show up again; in the last place that I look.

Yep, and I would generally start asking the kids what they did with it

The two things I lose the most are my pencil, and tape measure. I always leave the tape measure laying by the miter saw when I'm at the installation site or vice-versa. I tried to solve this by using 2 tape measures, but then I just have 2 laying at the location opposite to where I am.

My friend once lost his wallet. He looked and looked and looked. He gave up, assumed it was gone and went about canceling credit cards, getting a new license, etc. About 2 weeks later he found he wallet - IN HIS FREEZER . The only thing he could figure was that it was on top of the fridge and somehow got knocked into the freezer compartment when it was open.

I also have blamed things on ghosts when no other logical explanation exists

+1 on the tape measure gremlins. I can have one in my hand on second and it seems to find it's way into a worm hole the next. Drives me crazy.

Part of the problem for me is my garage is getting so cluttered I can lay it down on the bench and it just becomes part of the mess. Gotta do a major purge this spring, I can't take it anymore

Where's my Jig Saw

I lost my camera one time for two days. I found it hanging, in plain view, on my scaffolding. I am reasonably sure my husband, or his friend, was gas-lighting me.

I found it last nigh ton the tool shelves. It wasn't blocked from view - just sitting there in plain sight. I must have looked right at it several times the other night.

I guess it's kind of lick proof reading your own letter right after composing it - you never find the errors.

And, BTW, on the tape measures I have to agree. But for me they are more like seeds and spores that plants put out, hoping that a creature will pick one up and unknowingly drop it somewhere else. My solution to the tape measures is that I have 6 or 7 of them, plus rulers and hook rules all over the place. Ultimately I put one down in one spot and and pick one up in another spot, so they are constantly being cycled from garage to truck to house to garage.

I have several tape measures too. I'm always losing paint can tools, they work WAY better than screwdrivers and have a can opener too. I tie them to my tool bags.

As G.I Joe used to say...Sometimes the best place to hide is right out in the open

Where's my Jig Saw

After hitting and dragging my temple across the end of a clamp that was hanging off of a cabinet that I am building, and after cutting my thumb on a jig saw blade, and after the jig saw wouldn't bite down on it's blades, I threw it on the floor and cussed at the top of my lungs. For all I know, it is now broke, but I'm not sure that I care. I have always hated jig saws, and that one in particular.

Recently 'misplaced' the only utility knife I keep in my tool bag and was away from my truck. Looked everywhere, even in rooms I hadn't been in.
When we went to Lowes at lunch for other items, I bought a replacement.

Get back, eat lunch and spot the 'lost' knife.

The tool I always lose is my measuring tape. I think I need to buy another. I sometimes leave it in the garage when I need it in the house, or vice versa. Oddly I never do that with other tools.

I hate this. I buy utility knives whenever I see them on sale. I've got more than a dozen - and still sometimes I can't find one.
