what's up with people saying "heighth"?!

"is this a bust?" "I must say it's pretty nice" oops, wrong movie.
..........

Airplane is a classic. (Maybe the 'is this a bust' movie is too, but I don't recall it ) I was going to say that they don't make movies like Airplane anymore, but they do. 'Old School' 'Office Space' and 'Wedding Crashers' are funny and there are some other good comedies made in the past 10 years or so. Adam Sandler use to make funny movies, but his last few have had a 'social message' in them. I wish Hollywood would just get out of the business of politics and political correctness. It seems like so many of the stars I (use to) like have to (excuse me for saying this) open their big fat mouths about politics and that's it, I can't watch their movies or tv shows. I guess I should get over it, but WTF? Why do they think we want to hear about their political views?

Back to Airplane (sorry about that rant). There's a line in there I can never remember the ending to. It starts, "I have a question." "What's that?" "It's a ....................................... but that's not important right now." I should get that movie out and watch it again.

Does Leslie Nielson still make movies?

I think the "is this a bust" was from one of the nekkid gun movies. There was so much subtile humor on those movies. One from nekkid gun was where they went into the Blue Note bar. They were walking by the booths and behind each booth was a picture of disasters, like the Hindenburg, the Titantic, then they had a picture of Michael Decaukis. Funny stuff in my book. Loved Office Space.

How about the cities of Nawlens (in Louisianna), Lowvul (in Kentucky) and the one I probably can't spell phonetically on this thread: Nawfu__ like they say it down in Norfolk . Ravenna is a small town near where I grew up. You could always tell if someone around that area was from there, because the locals pronounced it Ree-van-uh.

Who started the term, 'politically incorrect'? I notice that when someone tells me something is politically incorrect, it is neither political nor incorrect. It's just someone's latest whiney opinion.

Is anyone else annoyed by how rare it's becoming to hear someone wish you a 'Merry Christmas' because it's being replaced with the politically correct, 'happy holidays'?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! And so as not to offend that one sensitive person out of a million, happy holidays to you too.

i refuse to say 'happy holidays' and ONLY wish people MERRY CHRISTMAS! i also refuse to shop in stores that wish us 'happy holidays' and 'seasons greetings' but not Merry Christmas. i've even thought about wearing a teeshirt stating so! just my way of showing disgust with the whole mess.

xmas indeed....

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Yes Norfolk, [the next city over from here] is pronounced as GMA2RJC's phonetics show.. Only a furiner would pronounce it Norfolk.

Wait til ya go a little farther and get to Suffolk!

Merry Christmas/Happy Haunukah/Happy Kawanza or whatever applies to all!

Another one that makes me crazy is when people say "prolly" in lieu of probably. We have a prolific poster here on this site that is prolly guilt of that.

I'm going to try something new. When someone wishes me 'happy holidays', I'm going to say, "Which holidays are you talking about, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine's day...?"

The psychology teacher in my high school always said "shoon't" instead of shouldn't and "coon't" instead of couldn't. Some of the girls thought that was so cute .

How about They're, their and there? You're and your? Two, to and too? More people than not butcher the use of those.
I even saw a college web site front page that had two out of the three above mis-used. So much for higher edu-ma-cashun.

I think the thing that drives me the craziest is receiving e-mails from supposedly professional people and nothing is capitalized.

dear john doe
i just wanted to let you know that we will be in your area to review this project. blah blah blah.

If I'm not worth hitting the shift key for, you ain't worth talking to.

Ain't...... now there's an interesting word...........

Years ago, in school, kids learned how to use and spell these words in a sentence. We had those mean teachers that made us learn all that crap. Thank goodness!

Awwwe, now there, their, they're. Don't feel bad. If you were the 'DangerMouse Co. Inc. Ltd. LLC' business , you'd probably use capitals. Especially if your business was sending letters to top government officials, then you would use capital letters in your capitol letters. But your posts on here are just as funny and helpful without the capital letters as they would be with them. =o)

Every newspaper I read and almost every magazine has the same thing. Don't they have someone proof-read their articles? Sometimes I think I'd like to apply for an editing job with those companies. Accept four the fact eye don't no uh nown from uh verb. Udder why's eye wood call them up and tell them too higher me.

A "lady" I use to work with would sometimes walk up to the rest of us and talk about her little girl. She was kind of a tough cookie and everyone was careful with what we said or did around her. I guess we were afraid of her beating us up. But when she talked about her little girl, she always referred to her as 'my fuc#!ng kid' as well as some other choice words (the daughter was around 4 to 6-years-old). Well, this 'lady's' grammar was horrible. Normally I would never correct another adults mistakes, but when she talked about her daughter that way, I corrected her every chance I had. She'd always say, "shut the f up Barb" or something else as nice as that. It just depended on if I laughed after I corrected her. Aaahhh the good old days .

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Years and years ago I was having this "discussion" with a "lady" at the bar, it got to the point were she told me "I don't know nothing" I said I don't know anything and explained that don't know nothing was a double negative. I heard her say a few choice words as I walked away from her. Priceless.

Also no such word as alot, a lot.
