What did I throw out?!? Copper Screening - ARG!

I finally got around to getting rid of my last two screen windows that were clogging up my basement. We replaced the six windows last winter and DH badgered me into hauling the first four to the dump two or three months ago.

I wasn't interested in going to the dump so I got out my little sledge hammer and started busting them up so I could get them in the trash can. Imagine my horror when I peeled the screen off the trim and discovered that they were COPPER. The narrow edge of the screen (covered by trim and paint) hadn't oxidized and was gleaming bright.

I also discovered that, not only were they each marked with their corresponding window number in ink, they also had small brass pushpins with the number embossed on them buried under six layers of paint.

I peeled the 72x50 inch screens off the remaining two screens, rolled it up, put it back in the basement and had a good long cry. :icon_crying:

Reminds me of the time I gave away a heavily painted bureau to a girl that was having a baby
They stripped it down...Mahogony...

Yeah........ I gave away the Hot Wheels cars I had when I was a kid. Last I saw, two of them were worth at least a $100 each.
