I'm taking part of this protest. All my site's pages are pointing to this: http://stopsopa.iceteks.com

This was totally last minute, I actually only heard about this today. I'm getting around 30 hits per minute give or take. It will be interesting to see how it plays out tomorrow.

Out of curiosity I typed 'google' into a search and got this....

Imagine a World
Without Free Knowledge
For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. Learn more.

Contact your representatives.
Your zip code:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google

Except the background is black and gray and the letters are white.

Soooooo.... no google searches today! It will be interesting to see how many people who didn't know about this before today will react.

Google.com is still working for me, for now, but there's a black box over the logo on the main page.

You're right. I was trying to show my daughter the black screen and it's not there now. I googled 'peanut butter' and got the normal search page, but I also noticed that they blacked out the 'google' logo up at the top, like you said. What good does that do???.

Weird.

If you type 'google' into the search box and click on the first option at the top of the page, you get a colorful screen with a search bar in the center and "please tell Congress not to censor the internet" written underneath.

Looks like google isn't taking the day off after all? I guess I'll go do a google search for 'big chickens' or 'cowards'. Or maybe 'all talk, no action'.

Duh! It's Wikipedia (English only) that has the black page. Google 'Wikipedia' and click on "English". That's where you'll see the blacked out page. My mistake.

Click that blacked-out logo and you'll see. It takes you to a page about SOPA/PIPA.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but every time Google changes their logo on the main page, it's linked to a different page if you click it. I used Google for a long time before I realized that the logo was an ever-changing link you can click on.

Craigslist also has a blackout landing page with a 10 second display time before you can click past it. Wordpress is also blacked out.

Sen. Jerry Moran, R. Kansas and Sen. Ron Wyden D. Oregon, say they will filibuster if necessary to stop the internet bill.

My page is at 23 thousand hits. Definitely getting a large variety of traffic I'm sure. I run a couple forums, a game server, a blog... all of which point to the page now. I just changed DNS over to my dedicated server and added a single default virtualhost, and added the page as the default 404. So any link of mine you go on, it gives that page. The services are 100% offline, and I'm not making any money off ads. I did it to show my strong opposition to it. My game server is also down, and has never been down this long in it's 5 years of operation. I reverted the changes but did not restart DNS and the web server, so that's all I have to do tomorrow morning to reset it.

One of my sites is also a top site list, so various people from various locations are clicking from various sites to vote for them and will see my page. So really, I'm sure it's doing a little something as I'm capturing so much variations of audiences.

Wikipedia is probably one with the biggest impact though. I think If Facebook or google did it, it would have been even bigger.
