Weather forcast: A chance of snow!

These pictures were sent to me in an email. They were taken after a storm in Orillia, Ontario, Canada in February, 2007. When I was growing up I remember our neighbor telling us about snow so deep they had to dig a tunnel from the house to the barn to feed the animals. Has anyone else ever experienced a storm like this?

Everyone who grew up in Manitoba remembers the March 4, 1966 blizzard.

That blizzard dropped so much snow that we couldn't open our back door because of all the snow blocking it. We had a back door that opened inwards, but there was another screen door that opened outwards, and it was that screen door that was blocked by snow. We could still get out of our house by the front door, tho.

I still remember climbing up the snow bank onto the roof of our house and jumping off the roof into the snow on the other side of our house. I also member that my two sisters and I didn't go to school for several days after that blizzard because it took that long for the town of Selkirk (where I grew up) to clear the streets.

The only thing close to that that I remember was in April of 1987 in Winnipeg. We got a "Colorado Clipper" that dumped about 3 feet of snow on us. That was the only time that the local radio stations were calling for people with snowmobiles to volunteer to move doctors and nurses and patients to and from the local hospitals. It took about 3 days before they cleared our street so we could get out to buy groceries. That was the only time I saw snowmobiles riding up and down the streets of Winnipeg. And, of course, they were the only things moving in the city for those few days. Even the airport was closed, the they have their own snow clearing equipment. Normally, they can keep operating during a heavy snowfall, and it'll only take them a few hours to clear the runways after a blizzard.

NOW QUIT COMPLAINING!!!!!!!!!!
THANK GOODNESS FOR GLOBAL WARMING. WITHOUT IT, WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH SNOW THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN. GLOBAL WARMING.......HMMM.

Don't you know they have changed it to climate change :).

Anyone that lives in the northern states that doesn't hope for some global warming right now is most likely in the minority.

High today -3F. :(

photos didn't show up.

I just want to know when global warming is gonna start kicking in. I'm getting tired of continuous -25 deg. C. temperatures. Some global warming would be welcome right about now.

brokenknee, are you able to see the pictures yet?

Nestor, remember in the 70's when they warned that we were 'going into an iceage'? Being just a kid then, I can't remember if they blamed it on humans like they have global warming.

I'd be afraid of going on a roof with all that snow on it.

Yeah, I remember the good old days when all we had to worry about was air pollution, overpopulation and an impromptu nuclear war that would kill everyone on the planet (soon or later).

I know I saw the pics earlier. Now all I see is little x's. I'll try to post them again.

Nestor, yeah those were the days . Seriously though, I'd forgotten how much debris use to be on the side of the road and how much air pollution there was.

Sorry about all the 'font' stuff between the pictures, I tried to edit them out and it wouldn't let me. Here are the last few.

Not yet.

I also remember the 70s were the ice age was coming. I was a teenager then and I don't think they blamed it on humans they said it was just part of a pattern that happens every so many thousand years or so. At least that is what I think I remember; but I am old now.

I also saw the source of your poem in those pictures, but the words were printed in white and blended in with the background....

You're only as old as you feel. Some days when I wake up I'm 99 yrs. old. By 8 a.m. I'm back to being 25....:whistling2:

I just refreshed this page and I'm seeing the pictures. Let me know if you don't see them, I'll try something else. Sorry for the screw-up.

I hope I am not as old as I feel, some days I think I would be dead.:)

I guess by some standards I am still a young man, but ask my grandson and he will tell you "papa" is older than dirt (something I think my son in law put him up to)

No photos yet.:(

Hey Danger Mouse, I just googled your poem and you are the only source that came up. So, I would say that you are the source of the poem. Do I win no prize?:no:
