We have been Adopted...

This guy showed up in front of our house yesterday looking tired, thirsty and hungry. When the wife tried to get near he walked away...after some coaxing with food, she could pet him. He then proceeded to walk back with her to the house.

Unlike our last dog that adopted us...this one did not try to eat the cats or run off to smell the neighborhood....

I took him to the dog pound last night....he is NOT chipped...so...they keep him 5 days to see if someone shows up to claim him...if not...the vet will fix him...give him all his shots....put in a chip....etc. $145...includes dog license...

I pick him up Friday (with luck)...it gives me time to make a couple of gates.

The eyes did it....makes your heart melt.

Actually...the wife and kids have name him Black Knight....or Sir Nior....

I wanted to call him JD......Jeep Dawg

Amazing! Good you take care of him :)

Cats have been doing this to us since about '94. Our biggest expense below taxes is vet & food for the now 14 cats living at our house. Just picked up the latest yesterday. She has siamese vocalization so conversation is always going on.

Looks like an excellent dog.

I think we adopted his cousin a couple of weeks ago. Tobi, the tongue.

If he is anything like her, he will be sweet as syrup, quick to learn, and eager to please.

Ok....THAT is a big tongue....

Thanks.
And I can tell you are not at all prejudiced when it comes to black labs.

ToolSeeker 07-25-2013 09:57 AM

Have had small dogs my whole life now have a black lab goes 150 pounds and is without a doubt a the best dog I have ever had. He was a rescue dog and was 1 day away from being put down I can't imagine putting a dog like this down.

I stopped by the pound yesterday evening to check on him....good lord he is skinny...but his food bowl was empty....and there was a nice 'healthy' pile of dog poop on the cage floor....by healthy I mean, no odd color....not running...just very normal looking...which means his system is working....he is eating....so this improves the odds that nothing else is wrong.

He was asleep...but woke to my command and started wagging his tail real good when he saw me...and got a good whiff....

No one has shown up...and I really doubt anyone will...some come tomorrow afternoon...he comes home with us....we already have a dog blanket ready for him and we are discussing with the kids the best way to get him used to the family. Which most likely will just be a quiet evening with some toned down kids....NO Wii.....

I told the boys they could sleep on the floor with him....We do not want him sleeping on their beds. He sheds quite a bit....

One thing to keep in mind is dogs will shed a lot more than normal when under stress. And while it sounds like your fella has been through some stress lately, great things are around the corner.
