Just finished my certification for Canadian fall protection and confined space. Got my passport and background check done and have been added to the available to work list used by contractors in Canada. Have my parka packed. Waiting for the call.

Wow I knew there was a shortage of tradespeople but did not realize it was this high. Definitely something good to go to school for these days. Everyone (including myself) is going for computer related stuff, but the market is so saturated with that it's harder for us to find a job. I got lucky and I have a really good job but if I lost it, I'd be in trouble. Trades is probably my fallback if I did lose my job. I'd probably try to specialize, and perhaps go as electrician, maybe plumbing too.

With my current job I have lot of time off, I've actually given it some thought on taking an electrical apprenticeship so I can get my hours and get my cert. I think I know enough that I'd be able to pretty much learn what I don't know on the job with the help of another electrician.

Of course it's easier said than done, it's nice to just sit back and home and not do much on my days off, when my current job pays well.

You can bring guns across the border. They would lose to much money turning away all those hunters. And no creeper, anything that would empower a man it is you that does not like that. I read your trolling posts on this forum and was highly offended by your attitude towards Americans second amendment right.

Hey slum lord..

Thank-you for sharing your opinion. And now we can each be highly offended by the other.

Here is the official position on guns at the border.

Visitors to Canada

If you are a visitor to Canada, and do not have a Canadian firearms licence and registration certificate, you are required to declare your firearms in writing.

If you are importing restricted firearms, you need an authorization to transport (ATT). You can get an application for an ATT by calling the Canada Firearms Centre at 1-800-731-4000. Normally, if you are a visitor declaring your restricted firearms in writing, you should plan to come to the CBSA office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in order to apply for an ATT, as you will need a Non-Resident Firearm Declarationconfirmation number to apply. If you are unable to come to the office during these hours, please make arrangements in advance by calling the Chief Firearms Officer of the province you will be visiting, as listed in Appendix A.

Visitors cannot, under any circumstances, import prohibited firearms.
Visitors who want to leave firearms in Canada must pay duties and taxes and have the firearm registered in Canada. If the firearm is sold or otherwise transferred to a Canadian resident, the parties must meet all the legal requirements associated with transferring firearms.

Creeper is not trolling.....she is just not used to the subject like we are. My wife is English....same way there....it took her some time for her to get used to me having a gun in my pocket all the time.....

As good Americans we need to respect another countries 'opinions'....right or wrong....just as they need to respect ours.
