Lots of folks didn't believe stomach ulcers and cancers were being caused by a bacteria. Turned out the h.pylori bacteria was the culprit in quite a few cases. Seems reasonable to believe research in this area will lead to similar discoveries. I recall reading of studies showing other flora being related to obesity. Another related to dental tooth decay.

Alongside these discoveries there's evidence showing the over-prescription and/or mis-application of anti-bacterial drugs has often lead to unrelated problems. We aren't just organisms in our own right, we also carry along symbiotic bacteria that our metabolism depends upon. Kill the wrong ones and the body suffers, many times in ways not fully understood, if at all.

As to whether things like these will be 'in medicine cabinets', that isn't clear at this point. One has to wonder if pushing that idea has more to do with someone hyping drug company profits... Just as they did with the anti-bacterial drugs in the first place?

Hmm pretty interesting. I hope this isn't some scam because it would be great.

If you have ever taking care of someone elderly with something like c diff, you will praise this break through. Some of the most powerful antibiotics on the market will not even touch many of these infections. What I find the hardest is you could have amassed a huge empire of wealth only to find out you can do nothing as someone close to you is slowly dieing.

Oh, come on! Bacteria causes most of these issues after all. I don't get the point of using it against these issues, then.
