Idiot Iranians. Do they think that Israel and/or the US is still flying P-51s, and needing to amass them at an airfield near Iran? We could fly in from half-way around the world, if we wanted to.

By the way...
Elvis isn't dead either, you all know that? Right?

As far as bin Laden...I'm wondering first of all if all Mermaids are virgins. I hope bin Laden doesn't mind his virgins smelling like fish. I mean Holy Crap 72 stinking mermaids all at the same time is more than anyone could handle. Yesterday a martyr, today chum.

I really don't care what kind of crazy quasi conspiracy theories come from all of this I'm just glad the prick is dead and I'm even happier our guys were the cause of his demise.

As always...my hat comes off to our military.

HOOYAH!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Thank You Ladies And Gentlemen Of The U.S. Armed Forces We All Know You Are The Best In The World.

Bar none!

I think it was handled well. The burial at sea shows respect to the Muslim majority who are by and large innocent of these atrocities. It shows the Muslim world that we are not barbarians. They have pictures and DNA evidence for proof. Let's face it there are people who still think Jim Morrison is alive. And Elvis. Obama deserves credit but not all the credit. After all Bush put this plan in place.

Credit to Team Six/DEVGRU, and JSOC. Probably also the CIA.

time out. Up to that point I was right with you. Bush can be credited with sending a bunch of troops to Afghanistan and missing OBL in Tora Bora.

This plan had nothing to do with Bush.

and what do you mean Jim Morrison isn't alive? Has anybody seen him dead?

We'll never know where the credit lies but if you listened to Obamas speech sun. night he thinks he deserves alot.

The arguement for Bushs role is that Bush started incursions (drones/troops) into packistan against Musharifs will. Obama has continued this policy along with a few others.

come on. That's like saying Roosevelt is responsible for dropping the A bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima because WWII started while Roosevelt was in office.

This was so far beyond what Bush was doing there is simply no comparison. This was downtown Abbottabad. Bush was out west rolling rocks around.

I do understand that the identity of the courier whose observations of that lead to the hideaway was a result of the water boarding under Bush. The compound that was attacked was identified last August. So, under Bush we got a name. Everything else was post Bush.

Hell, Bush already proved he did not understand intel when he attacked Iraq with the claim of "weapons of mass destruction". I'm still waiting to see those as about the only thing the attack uncovered was materials we had supplied to Hussein many years prior.

So the intel was gathered using Bushs approved methods.........check.

This plan was put together by the war planners Bush appointed.........check,Petraes and gates..........

The intel from the CIA was gathered under the supervision of Leon Paneta.........Yup Bushs guy again (wrong on this one thought he was in Bushs last term

If Bush Had'nt gone into and against the will of Packistan in the hunt for binladin you realy think Obama would've had the backbone to do it.......I dont

People will give credit were the want for this, it just depends on where you stand. I do feel like Obama over tooted his horn in the speech (so did my mom and she's in love with him)
In general Obama has received plenty of praise for things that were achieved using Bushs policy...................... and he has'nt shyed away from any of it.

no. The identity of one person that was critical to the result was discovered under Bush's illegal methods of interrogation. The rest of the intel was developed under Obama, presumably using legal methods.

wrong. This specific plan was directed by the Director of the CIA Leon Panetta who was appointed by Obama. Did you miss the speech where Obama stated he had given a very specific directive to Panetta to deal with OBL?

Huh? In January 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Panetta for the post of CIA Director; he was confirmed by the full Senate on February 12, 2009 and assumed the office the next day.

Not seeing Bushes fingerprints on that in any way.

you jest. Bush was in no man's land that was often disputed territory. Obama walked into a major city. It's not difficult to defend activities in the periphery of the country where there is little in the way of major population collectives and much of what is found is nomadic tribesmen. Walking into one of the major cities of the country, 1000 feet from the countries main military educational installation, is quite different.

well, due to the specific directive from Obama to Panetta, it is a deserved claim of Obama. If one wants to argue a president's right to claim any particular action, in reality, none of them can claim anything. All any of them have done is direct so if you want to argue a right to claim responsibility for an action, none of them can. It was always somebody else doing the work. The fact remains, this situation was one that resulted due to some of the most direct involvement of a president possible. Specific actions were under the direct control of the president and not simply as the result of the pres telling others to "get it done". It went beyond general directives.

ya. like the nearly trillion dollar give away that the banks benefited from. Ya, while it was actually Bush's deal, Obama gets stuck with the blame. When you can find something that was actually a win for a Bush policy, let me know. So far his legacy is one of debt, poor military decisions, and a general lack of intelligence in the oval office.

Ok guys. I'm guessing you two could go on like this forever.

The only question I have is how can republicans/conservatives justify diminishing this achievement for the commander in chief?

The only answer that makes sense is sour grapes.

This has been a goal for nearly ten years. Some kick-butt guys from Virginia (represent!) under the direction of the President of the United States (that's what JSOC does) GOT IT DONE. End of story.
