Unknown machine

Anyone have any idea what this machine is?

It looks like a Dumore motor on it, it has a speed control.
On the back it looks like the old style coffee pot male two round prongs where you can connect a power cord.

The round disk on top does not move, it looks like there's a piece missing that was connected to the shaft at one time that rotated.

It's very well made and does not look like a DIY set up.

There's 0 marking on it any place, not even an ID plate on the motor. There's screws where the plate may have been at one time.

From here, it looks like a homemade shape. Is the shaft threaded or keyed to possibly attach a collet?

The shaft is hex shaped with no hole in the middle of it.

The bottom plate is steel channel iron and the back part was all aluminum and was cast not just plates stuck together.
There's a back door that covers up the speed control.
The speed control looked really old, it had what looked like the coils in an induction type electric heater.

Some sort of lapping machine was my first thought, but with a hex shaft what could have been connected to it?

I emailed Dumore and they had never seen anything like it.

My uncle bought it at a yard sale for $1.00.
