Tryptophan - The True Gateway Drug

This is what it looks like.

It is tryptophan and when combined with both simple and complex carbohydrates at the same time it can cause almost euphoric and mildly hallucenigenic drowsiness.

Your children may be about to eat it. Isn't it time you finally say no to drugs? Stop the very concept of experimentation and curiosity at the gateway.

This Thanksgiving, serve 25 pounds of molded tofu instead.

I intend on slow-smoking our source of Tryptophan . . . which isn't a significant source, actually - it's trumped by many other foods such as eggs and cheddar cheese. Thanksgiving day drowsiness is actually contributed to large quantities of carbs which increase the amount of melatonin that the body produces.

Damn this science!

Thought I pointed out carbs in my original post. I don't want to corner you since you are a military Mom but are you suggesting a can or two of carbonated and perhaps brewed carbs could possibly be contributed to Thanksgiving lethargy?

Sorry - I thought you were just joking around. :)

From what I have read, you would need to eat about 20 turkeys to get enough tryptophan to make you sleepy. It's probably the usually boring lopsided football games taking their toll.

No you were right. Go Bubba, Retired Colonel, Us Marine Corp. Go. Send pictures when you get to turkey number 18. Best scored so far is Army 14. Air Force 15 and Navy at 18.5 but they ate too many feathers and had to fly back on deck.

You all know nothing about the military turkey eating competition, with possible photoshop help, do you? Leave it to intel folk to save asses.
