which tool first?

Just curious, this question was asked of me one time, I really did not have an answer.
A fellow remodel carpenter and me were enjoying some bbq and adult beverages.

He asked me, Lets pretend things were different, A bad divorce, or aliens picked you up and moved you to another state ... you did not have a single tool. Not even a screwdriver.
But you had imaginary money to buy one tool.

What would be the first tool you would buy?

An alien-killing device.

Probably a set of channel locks. You can do practically anything with those.

I've always got a pocket knife with me, which I consider a tool, so that'd be my #1 choice. After that would be needle-nosed vice-grips.

Personally, bein' a Mechanic, I'd probably go with a full sized set of curved jaw Vise-Grips....
