You and I have agreed on quite a bit of stuff but we will have to respectfully disagree on this.

If you think it was acceptable for this person to tweet a picture (which by the way would have taken just as long to call 911) than render aid in the form of a phone call, we are miles apart.

We are not arguing as to whether or not he should be obligating to stick his hand in a dying man's chest to pinch off and artery but rather is he morally obligated to call for help.

So if someone hits YOU and you land on the side of the road, what would you have someone else do when the come upon you lying there? Would you want them to assume you're just some drunk sleeping off a bad bender? Would you want them to call the cops, if only because some dirtbag sleeping IN THE ROAD shouldn't be there?

Or would you rather they just take the effort to get out of their car, take a picture, use their phone to post your picture on a website and then go on their merry way.

you guys are taking me wrong. of course i would help, (in most cases), to the point of me getting hurt or even dieing. morality is not the issue. its the legality . the guy in question was being charged for not helping.

This was a guy lying motionless in the roadway. The driver stopped, the passenger got out, took a picture, got back into the car, drove away and tweeted the picture. Do you not see the appalling lack of decency there? Does there even need to be a question made for legality here?

It's comments like "(in most cases)" that do not bode well for society.

I am not arguing the legality of the matter and if that was the core of your debate, we could take years figuring it out and I am not sure we would arrive at a concise answer.

The observable flaw and terrible realization comes from the fact that we are even considering the legal implications as compared to the moral obligations. That, to me, is what is wrong with society.

That is exactly correct. All to often we want to apply 'legal' action to something that is more of a moral and/or quality of life issue.

The problem we get into is that we have had a significant moral decline in this world....THAT is the trend that needs to be reversed.

But I tell you, love you enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 5:44

I don't think I would be bending down and giving mouth to mouth if I thought my health might be put in jeopardy but this is why we have the CPR masks in all the vehicles.

Working nights (in a past and single life) I have been on the seen of more than a coupe of bad accidents where I had to assist in some capacity. I did not know they people or if they were bad folks, that is not for me to judge though.

Right, and here comes the equivocating. Instead of addressing your own appalling response you try to deflect it with completely unrelated nonsense. Good luck living a life like that.

You betcha.....I'd be calling 911

It's not a hard decision....no one is asking you to walk over, give him a shake and say "hey buddy, you ok?"

If I see a bunch of guys fighting and I have my family in the car, do you think I'm going to stop and tell the guys "Ok boys, stop fighting". NO.....am I going to do nothing? NO....

But I will pick up the phone and call 911. Your taxes do actually pay for people to handle those kinds of problems. But for them to know about it, you have to call them.

Yes. Because he/she is still a human being. And that person is still someone's son or daughter.
