Strange Situation

Yesterday I changed my phone and internet service from Comcast to ITT. The young technician was on my property for about 1 1/2 hours. I went out and he told me the phone line had been cut and rolled up.
I informed him that I had underground service and that the Power company coiled the line up when they cleared the power rightofway and that it was disconnected and laying on the ground.
Strange thing is--the line was a TV Cable. He said it was my phone line???
I was not aware that they used the same line

if you were using comcast for your phone and internet it was most likely coming through a single coax, unless it was DSL service, in which case both would be coming through a phone line. Nothing unusal about this

I am only saying that I didn't know that the telephone company used the single coax --TV Cable--for home service. What I have from ITT is DSL and that may make a difference. The tech never came into my home, he worked on the outside connection. There is no TV Cable hooked to my computer, just the phone line, maybe the connection is in the outside box.

Maybe I am still confused ( very possible)
If you had comcast for phone and internet, most likely this came into your home through a single coax ( since comcast is a cable company). If you replaced it with DSL from ITT, I assume this is coming in through the phone line ( the line that used to be disconnected and buried in your ground)

Strange Situation

We can assume the computer line works, as we got your message. Have you received and made phone calls? If so,why worry? If your phone does not work, you need to contact your provider. the question is how? Carrier pigeon?

Extra wiring is often left because it is not visible and the tech just wants to get to the next job.
