Story time - Flying

Take-off time is the best part of flying - being forced back against the seat! It's like being wrapped up nice & snug in a big quilt.

See what I mean, Barb -
It's probably, too late!

As far as Scotch goes - When I was much younger; my father was mostly,
a beer drinker.
He did have a bottle of "Cutty Sark" in the "frig", though.
While I was "rifling" the frig for anything I could consume/drink -
You know - food, milk, OJ, pop, kool-aid ...
I noticed this bottle of "Cutty Sark" (Not bad Scotch!)
Being the inquisitive, youth that I was -
I took a "slug"!
YOOOWWW!
This ain't the same as a sip from my father's beer!!!
Over time - I took a few more, "slugs"!
They tasted better!

My most, memorable "exploit" with Scotch was -
3 days - 2 nights
3 bottles "Glenlevit" - straight - non-stop.
(Yes, it was a woman that drove me to drink - I never got to thank her!)
I drank myself "sober".

JIM -
"liable to wind up on your a$$"
No chance, man!
I always, break my falls, with my face!
(Jim - your "clownish" activities have come to my attention - I feel it's
my duty to inform "--M--", there's another "clown" in our midst!!)
(Please Lord help us!! - it's bad enough that "Rossi" is hanging around
here - now apparently, there's another "clown" - "Jim"!)
(Just remember this, Jim - I'm the "Hack", clown - OK?!?!)

We'll be back to our previously, "unscheduled", program in a few!
"Take off"!!
Yeah!! (Rock and Roll!)

Story time - Flying

We're in the air.
I don't remember how long the flight was.
I think it was a 3 or 4, drink flight.
(They had Johnny Walker, Red-Label, Scotch and "Tanquray", gin.)
(Spelling! - Sorry!)
My brother and I were Happy!
The flight was uneventful - fun, though!!
We land at Kansas City.
Our original plan was to fly in - than, fly out.
We decided to stay overnight.
Shuttle-bus to a hotel.
(Money is no problem - we've got credit-cards!)

We arrive at the hotel and go to the desk to get a room.
Oh-No!
There's 2 weddings going on, no rooms at all!!
The "staff" at the hotel is nice enough to call other hotels and see if they
have any rooms available
(Also, if the bar is still open!)
Yes, there is a hotel!
They get us a Cab.

"RF"

(I just saw those "laughing", "Smilies")!!

I never flew on a jet, I did fly on a turbo prop from NY to Memphis way back when, We changed planes in DC and on to Memphis, man was I glad. That first plane was vibrating so bad when we got off in DC I was still tingling, worst than ridin an ole 74 Harley.

I never did get sea sick although we went right through a hurricane, when I was on a carrier, but I did get air sick, reached for the barf bag an sounded like a big ole bull frog but didn't upchuck. I can not imagine flying off a carrier in a jet, you should have seen some of them ole boys back then. They fired the catapults the plane would drop below the deck sometimes and would be just feet off the water. You would think it wasn't going to make it, then he would kick in the afterburner wide open, a big mist of water a loud boom and you could see him just barely getting up off the water. You could breath once again, he made it.

You should have seen the Marines land on the carrier, they didn't care how they hit as long as they hit. It was comical up there sometimes. Sorry bout that, jets sorta carry me back to the ole Navy days.

Man, talking about drink, in NY city you could drink at 18 and that was something new to me. I ran into a buddy up from Philly and he had two 5ths of blackberry brandy (almost makes me barf just remembering that stuff). We snuck the brandy in a bar and didn't want the bartender to know we had it so we ordered a draft beer. Drink the beer, then a glass of brandy, that went on until the brandy was gone, both 5ths. Man talk about sloshed, and I had to ride the subway back to the ship. I couldn't do that when I was sober.

Well I asked a lady to let me know when we got where I was going and she told me I was on the wrong sub, well that was about normal. I got off and got on the right one and asked another lady to let me know when to get off. She told me my get off was coming up so I got up to the door, when the door opened there was a brick wall dead in front of me and I just stood there. That lady grabbed my arm and slung me off that train. Well to make a long story longer, I got the dry heaves, man, talk about sick I wanted to die. It was a good while before I did anything like that again. I don't drink a drop today, enough of that was enough back then, I just don't like the feel of feeling goofy.

Well, I guess I could make it mitigated if I knew what un-mitigated meant.

We arrive at the hotel - we check in - our room is on the first floor.
The bar is still open -
We're in the bar, having beverages, cock-tails, libations!
(No, Jim - I didn't fall on my face!)
The "Fire-Alarm" goes off!!
Say what!!??
Everybody into the lobby.
(They had to shut the bar down!)

We go into the lobby.
What's there?
Apparently, the "Miss, Teenage, Miss America", pageant.
Also, "Fire-fighters", with oxygen gear!
We're "milling", around in confusion.
Dawns on us -
We're on the FIRST, floor!
What's the worst that can happen?!?
I'll have to throw a chair through a window - we'll get out!

We sneak off to our room.
Nothing happened - other than - we got some sleep!
(Think we needed that??!! - YES!)

Wake up in the morning -
go to the restaurant -
have some breakfast (Good, breakfast!) -
Catch the shuttle to the airport.
The flight going back to Chicago was much the same!!!
I hate that when it happens!!!
(Almost as much fun as the flight to Kansas City!!)

Jim -
Sorry, I got the spelling wrong!
It's not "un-mitigated" -
It's "unmitigated" - no hyphen!
"Without mitigation" - absolute - no mitigating, circumstances.
(However - you still might be a "victim of circumstance"!?!)

Sounds like a fun adventure Ross - spontaneous!

Once you looked over the next months' credit card statement, did you go into shock?

I always thought it would be fun to take one of those planes that land on water, up into the back country of Alaska. Maybe camp for a couple weeks (hope the pilot remembers to come back... ) and fly back out.

Well - It was a drain on the funds - for my brother and myself.
However, we were both working -
You spend it "here" or, you spend it "there"!
Sometimes in life - it's an extreme, amount of fun - to "throw caution
to the wind"!
Take a shot!
Go for it!

Alaska!!
My sister and her husband, took a cruise-ship up there.
WOW!!
Experience of a life-time!!
Nothing, but good things to say, about that!

"RF"

(By the way - I beg to differ with you, a little -
"Good memories" - they're one of the ways we "temper", "erase", etc ...
"Bad Memories"!)
Just my opinion!

I use to want to fly off to some place like that, I am afraid to fly now, bet that was fun though. Everyone should do something like that at least once in their life, great memories.

Jim -
I will not fly anymore.
Period!!!
Unless, I can have a parachute (packed by me, or a certified, "rigger"!)
(I would not let anyone jump on a "chute", I packed!!)
Like, that's going to happen on a commercial, airline flight!!!
Sure it is!!

Sorry to hijack your thread Rossi, but MY STARS Jim. An Air craft carrier in a hurricane!! Wow!! From my boring little existence I'm not sure which is more facinating the air craft carrier or the hurricane.

I rode my bicycle on a windy day once

It just dawned on me!
Sometimes I sign off with - "RF".
What does that mean?!?
No, not "rossfingal" -

"RF" stands for -
"Ridiculously, Fool-hardy"!
I'm the one that walks in where the "Angels fear to tread"!
(No, no the treads on the stairs have to be "12"s - not 2 X 10's!!)
Jeesh!

"Fools rush in, where "Angels" fear to tread"

"Rossi"

"creeper" - join the activities!
