Story time---1952 Dodge school bus

Maybe it's just me, but I think that both stories were great. Mike's kept us hanging to the edge of our chairs, laughing, remembering similar events in our own youth, etc. On the other hand, consider all of things that DM had to omit, whether because they maybe skirted along the edge of the law, or were just to personal and intimate to share, and that is quite an amazing story.

Story time---1952 Dodge school bus

Sitting uncomfortably in the back seat waiting for them to call me in, the cop not driving asked me "Whats in the bag?" I told him it was just my clothes for the weekend. He then asked me to open it so he could search it. I stated 'matter-of-factly' "don't you need to arrest me for something before searching me?" He said "Well, I see you know your rights! But... do you have anything we should be worried about in there?" I opened the first strap of the green USA Army duffle and my underwear I had on top started to blossom out. "Nope, just my clothes, like I said".... He said "Okay, you don't need to dump it out or anything, go ahead and close it back up." They took me to the next exit ramp and dropped me off, ordering me to NOT venture down onto the highway again. I agreed and off they went. I went off too.... into the woods next to the ramp for a smoke break. *whew!!!* The weekend was quite profitable.

...most likely NOT to be continued.....

Story time---1952 Dodge school bus

Caused me to recall the first time that I got a ride in a police car. As a stupid side note, our high school had a "detention bus" at that time, which ran an hour or so after the rest had all left, and would drop you off, not as close as the regular bus, but a lot closer than walking the whole way. But, it was for detention, so they left when detention was over, and did not wait for athletics, etc. to end. So, there I was one afternoon, finished up late in the weight room, missed the bus, so started walking home; no big deal; I'm old, but not that old, so only 3-4 of the 5 or 6 miles were up hill both ways. Anyway, about halfway home, I heard the smooth low rumble of a big block coming up, so looked back, and it was a state policeman in a Belvedere. "Where are you going?" "Home, sir." "Where are you coming from?" "School, sir." "Ah, missed the bus. Detention?" "No sir. Was lifting weights." "Get in." Well, this was a rural area, and after a bit of small talk, Al Kaline, Sox and Martin, Richard Petty, etc., a peak under the hood at that bright orange 426 or 440 with a pair of 4's, I think, but honestly can't recall for sure, we're back in the car, making sure my seat belt is in place, and smoking rubber off both rear tires! I got a ride right to my door that day.

Well, finally something "DM"!
Bad boy!!!...Bad!
(At least we get a response - "inquiring minds want to know"!)
(Does leave interesting things to the imagination)

Thanks for sharing that "happy" moment with us!
(Didn't your mother tell you it's not good to smoke?)

That story sounds like something Johnny Cash or Charlie Daniels sang about some years ago.

Yup, it never ceases to amaze me what you can find in other people's web sites and blogs that you can copy and paste here, right Mark?
Well? What did you expect me to do? You guys wanted an interesting story, and I didn't want to open up bad memories, sooooooo......

Yes DM - I'm sure many of us can empathize with "bad memories"!

There's also the matter of constraints on time!
Movie rights ("Pixar"?), Catering (champagne, caviar, chocolate-covered
straw-berries?), Casting (Who's going to portray DM!!?) -
That's going to take up a lot of time!

There's also, the "Important", matter of your "REAL" job!
Keeping the spammers out of this place!
(Good luck with that!)

I'm sure, we all understand! (There, there DM! - it'll get better/worse!?!)

Cordially, from the ethereal, Internet realm! -

Allright DM .,

In USA side the best memory when I was taking few of my freinds to Floride ( Florda ) while driving my old GMC truck with 3 cylinder detorit diesel engine and was left from Wisconsin and driving thru few different states so in State of Wisconsin was not too bad but it was quite that time not super hevey on traffic that time but there were one neck breaker event when I was crusing on Interstate 90/94 Nord of Madison.,

We were about near wide open on old diesel engine and there were few motourcycles went by and one of my freind yelling at my ears say Regard !!! ( Look !! ) as soon I look over and there were couople female motourcycle went by us but one I rather say very loosely in here .,, she did not have any type of covering on top half of her body so .,, all I say wow cool but keep my cool but the car driver in front of me almost crash my truck have to use the airhorn ( actual train horn btw ) and that driver got wise up a little.

After that event I did stop one of the truck stop to get more diesel fuel for my truck and few drivers comment say about the lady I say pas comment for a moment ! I can't say why here. ( it is one of my family members that all I will say in here )

Then hit the road again going thru the old school tollway and one toll master person asked me did I have a jake brake in there I reply only one word .,, OUI he never say anything more just a thumb up that it.

Then stop south of Gary Ind ( not the best place but nice pepoles there ) for good foods and few local guys were kind engough to show us the city and gave us few good restuants to eat ( damm we were stuffed for the night so we decided to stay overnite there ) but next moring crappy rain but we have to roll on next stop is Indy city.

I will stop here for a moment so let other readers catch up.

Merci,
Marc

Story time---1952 Dodge school bus

Ok contuide from last part .,

Yeah., a freaky day for me to start that day alot of rain but no torandes good thing anyway.,

got on I-65 it was pretty flat for most case but can see many corn stalk almost like endless of green corn stalk waves feel like we are in a inland green ocean with green with few yellow peaks .

Then stop at Indy metro area for a break and look at Indy 500 raceway and musem to look around and actually stand in the race track itself that is super cool to look around and pick up other freind of mine to join in the ride ( yeah I should mention that I have pretty rare crewcab verison of this truck ) and went south without much indecents beside a tire threw the cap off ( a rethreaded tire ) good thing no one was behind my truck when that did happend but have to walk back a kilometer to pick up that cap (merde!)

Then somehow the state trooper stop by to check on me and she say to me is everything is ok and with my broken engish I say "oui pas de problem " and she say hold on and second trooper came in and he start to speak in French and he say I am one of few French speaking peoples that did run thru his state but both were very kind to give me a lift back to my truck and they did make a quick check with my truck and say have a nice trip.

That part I will have to pick up a new tire later due I did not have any more spares eff it for now so will pick it up in Louseville Kenucky now that is nice city but foods wowie here we go again plus got nice local beers to drink as well ( that was denfity a strong brews alot stronger than a commercal beers as we know of )

Next moring took off with mild hangover but it did tick one of my frenid off a little due the noise of the Detorit diesel and say " wish to get a freaking muffer to quite it down " I say naw the stacks go up in the air so not too bad ( of course no muffers )

Got in the rolling hills near Bowling Green KY and stop by to see the covrette factory there and look at few cars there and their factory workers look at my old truck and say " Damm that is cool wheels to run " and manged to ride one of the new corvette let say it do really haul A$$!! so will make next stop at Nashville Tenn. now that is nice southern hopsity meet few peoples and one county sheriff did heard my truck bark when I hit the jake brake and he quoted say " never saw a jake on one tonne truck " but he did check my truck to make sure it is legit ( I still have Quebec tags on it ) so he say have fun that was it.

Will type more later.

Merci,
Marc
