Spring/summer Progress

If you are in a climate with seasonal changes, what is the status?

In a suburb in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, it was 39F this morning and cloudy with a high of 42 projected and no snow on the ground.

The landscaping service in the townhouse development was out in full force with blowers for leaves and debris under and around every tree or shrub. They are vacuming the lawn areas and even doing some dethatching (unusual). The birds are going crazy, especially the ground feeders (Robins, Juncos and some Finches).

They just finished fertilizing/weed killing for the early season.

Everything is normal especially the forecast of rain and snow to make the fertilizer to start up. They forecast 1" to 3" of snow that will be gone in hours and 62F forecast for late in the week. Soon, we will have the 2 or 3 times a week lawn mowing as everything explodes.

The "critters" are up and around. - One bear and 4 deer in the yard this morning, but no fawns are up and around yet. In a few months, the contract hunters (bow or rifle) will be out to selectively thin the deer population, which is a perennial problem for home owners and drivers in this area.

Spring/summer Progress

Southwest suburb of Chicago. We've hit 80 degrees once or twice and have had quite a few days in the 70s, but have settled into a cooler pattern, with lots of rain. Mid-upper 30s in the mornings, highs in the upper 50s. Buds are on all the trees, and grass is green. I've only cut my lawn once, but it is desperate for a re-cut. Too much rain and too little time to get out there right now. I spent all of Sunday digging 2 new beds and planting bushes, trees, and perennials (bare root cuttings).

My lawn is due for its second fertilizing of the season next Thursday. I am on a 6-week fertilizer schedule.

lots of bear, deer, snakes, birds, flowers etc. Had huge rain which over ran river banks and cleaned all the ditches so local yahoo's can refertilize with trash. They just restocked the river with trout behind my house and the water went from 1' deep to 8' in 6hrs wonder where the trout are now

I will bet the trout are in the deeper holes where to food is and the current is less.

Spring/summer Progress

Our winter was over about the second week of January, spring flew by, by February, we were up to low nineties. Kind of cool here today...only 86 at 11:30.

Spring/summer Progress

New England!!! Things are progressing nicely. We have some really nice days, but then days like today when it's in the 40's and rainy mixed in.

Things are starting to bloom though! I have daffodils sprouting up all over the place. No snow left except small remaining piles in industrial parking lots.

Spring/summer Progress

Had to drive around the western edge of Lake Ontario, into the Niagara Falls region. There I saw the first daffodils in bloom. for this season.
Prospects are more wet & cold over Easter.
