A neighbor with a beer in his hand asked me this.
A large beer mind you. Although he was 4 foot something tall, maybe my sober vision was impaired about proportions.
He said, so what do you do?
A little bit of everything.
He points at the chimney of another neighbors house and says , that guy wants the top of his chimney redone, there is some part time work for you.
I didn't know how to say politely "WTF does a chimney top have to do with a carpenter?"
But I didn't. No way to make friends with the neighbor, besides I did say a bit of everything.

He's obviously confusing the term "Handyman" and "Carpenter"....

Maybe you and him could split a 36 pack and discuss it on some lawnchairs in your tank tops, shorts and slippers from 11 am to 11 pm on some weekday....

It's a common misconception. Maybe people think that if you are handy with woodwork you will be handy with anything.

My hubby is also a carpenter and he had a good chuckle when I showed him your post.

Funny story, but too true. I am an amateur carpenter and I have had a coworker use that as a transition to ask me questions about welding.
