Snake!
1 Attachment(s)
Wife always hated and was scared of snakes. She also hates screaming kids!
We were in a pet shop one day and 4-5 girls, teenagers, were just screeching and screaming about a Burmese Python that the owner allowed you to hold and have your pic taken. Finally the wife had had enough and hollered for them to "Shut Up! All you have to do is pick it up!" And danged if she didn't reach into the pit and hoist it up to show the girls! About the time the snake turned itself around and looked into her eyes she realized what she had done, and started hollering at me to get it off. I made her walk to the other end of the store where the photo booth was and paid to have the pic taken. As I recall, it was a small one, about 7-8' and 75 #. |

She must have hated screaming kids alot to ever put that beast around her neck. You'd never have to worry about getting a seat on the bus. I'd behave if I were you Jan |
Yikes tinner666!! She's much much braver than I am! I'm not afraid of snakes, as far as I know, but I know I couldn't hold one. Cool picture though - something to show the grandkids someday!!
My aunt is deathly afraid of snakes. Years ago, (early 1970's?) she and my other aunt rented a cabin up in Northern Michigan for $500 for the week. They had all 6 of their kids with them. When they pulled into the driveway, my aunt got out of the car and saw a snake right away. They left immediately. Wasted the whole week and $500. |
We get loads of them in our garden, fortunately not much bigger than 18-20".
I don't like to pick them up either. They go their way and I go mine |
She's calmer now! We find them often on the farm. She calls me to ID them, then she'll even move them herself if I say it's safe.
We learned a lot at a reptile place one summer. Got to handle moccasins. Learned more about how mean rattlers can be. I already knew about water snakes They're mean and will bite out of meanness or just are misquided about what's food. They will swim up to you and poke you! If you stare back, they'll poke again! Harder! Mocs are calm and tend not to bite if not stepped on. |
Not to take away from your wife's extreme act of bravery, but as long as we are talking about snakes, here is a little video about a huge dead snake found at a water treatment plant

Spooky when they lunge, eh?
I'll find the pic I took of her petting one that measured 19'8". It was alive too! The thing was huge! |
Oh, if you cna refrain from yanking, jerking and other sudden moves, when a non-poisionous one bits, hold still and it will let go and NOT tear your skin. Jerk, and skin is removed and often gets infected. One corn snake bit my thumb three times before deciding it couldn't swallow it! Small guy about 18" long.

Shorts and knee high rubber boots are my new summer look

Oh hellz no. I hate snakes.
|
It must be spring, we saw two today.
One was a black rat snake hiding underneath a rock I wanted. The other was a cute little green snake that kept on wanting to hide under our vehicle. They're both good guys. OTOH, copperheads eat lead. |

This Cobra looking fella showed up last year on the farm.
He'd lunge at us with mouth wide open and head flared. The 'book' we read on snakes said his type plays dead and rolls over when threatened. We didn't see that behavior at all. |
That's hilarious. You've got a brave wife to stand up to those kids and the snake! haha
