selling stuff

i have some things that i don't use any more, or never did. i need to sell them.
the problem is, i find it hard to put them on CL. even though some of these things are new, i was given them and never used em. i find it hard to sell them.
i keep thinking that i will need them. even though i 99.99% know i won't.

Re: selling stuff

I have trouble getting rid of things as well. Even though I'm not using them now, I might someday, right?

I've heard some people talk about getting rid of anything they haven't used in a year but I haven't used my right angle drill in more than that time but if I could find it right now I would be using it to run some romex in a closet.

Re: selling stuff

Look at it differently.

Hang onto them for 40 more years and they become your RETIREMENT INCOME, people are always looking for new old stuff.

That is old stuff that is still new in the box, never used .

Re: selling stuff

As long as you have room without looking like a hoarder you can hang on to them. But when they take up space that you could well use then some things need to go.

Offering them for sale sooner rather than later also allows you to wait for a better price. When you have to unload because you are moving or other reasons you take the first offer.

Many of the tools we think we might need can be rented at a reasonable price.

Re: selling stuff

We have a room we call the gifts from hell room that we put all the gifts people gave us that we have no use for.
I agree seems as soon as I sell something ,or lend it out, even though I had not used it in many years I need it.

Re: selling stuff

one reason i need to put this stuff up, is that a lot of times it takes a long time for the right buyer to come along. when i say "right buyer" i mean someone that gives a fair price, or even just anyone at any price.

i have :
some car parts
basic otr microwave
drywall lift (and all of my ceiling drywall is done. sheeesh)
engine stand, new, cheapo.
car dollies.
perhaps my like new plate compacter.

Re: selling stuff

I find the best source for selling stuff is Facebook. There are little communities in my area anyway of locals selling used stuff.. it goes very fast.

Try to purge when youre in the mood and show no mercy. You wont miss it
